Chosen

What are you called to do?

There is a quiet but powerful question that echoes through every human life: Why am I here? At some point – whether in moments of success, failure, stillness, or chaos – you begin to sense that your life is not accidental. You are chosen in some way, for something meaningful, something that only you can fulfill.

Sometimes there is a misunderstanding of being chosen.  Many people associate “chosen” with fame, influence, or extraordinary talent. Looking at leaders, innovators, or public figures, it can be assumed they were singled out for greatness. But being chosen is not about status, it’s about purpose.

To be chosen means:

  • You have been given unique gifts.
  • You are placed in specific circumstances.
  • You are entrusted with opportunities to make an impact.

Being chosen is not about comparison, it’s about calling. Your calling is personal. No two callings are identical. Some are loud and visible; others are quiet and deeply rooted in everyday life.

You might be called to:

  • Lead and inspire others
  • Create art or build something meaningful
  • Care for people in need
  • Teach, guide, or mentor
  • Bring integrity into spaces lacking it
  • Simply be a steady, kind presence in a chaotic world

None of these are small. The purpose of what we’re chosen to be and do isn’t measured by applause; it’s measured by impact. It’s rarely a lightning bolt; it’s more often a slow realization.

If you’re unsure what you’re called to do, look for patterns in your life. Your calling often leaves clues:

  • What moves you deeply? The things that stir your heart often point toward purpose.
  • What comes naturally to you? Your strengths are not random, they are tools.
  • What problems do you feel compelled to solve? Frustration can reveal assignment.
  • What do others consistently seek you out for? Sometimes others see your calling before you do.

Being chosen does not guarantee a smooth path. In fact, it often comes with challenges, doubt, and growth. You may experience seasons of uncertainty, fear of failure or inadequacy, resistance from others – or even yourself, the need to step outside your comfort zone. These aren’t signs you’re off track; they’re often signs you’re on the path.

To be chosen is also to be responsible. Not in a burdensome way, but in a meaningful one.

It means:

  • Showing up when it matters
  • Developing your gifts instead of ignoring them
  • Acting with courage even when unsure
  • Using what you’ve been given to benefit more than just yourself

A calling unacted upon remains only potential. A calling embraced becomes purpose in motion.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Most people discover their calling by working it out, not by waiting for perfect clarity.

Start small:

  • Take one step toward what feels meaningful
  • Say yes to opportunities that align with your values
  • Learn, adjust, and grow along the way

Purpose is not a destination; it’s something you live daily. You’re not here by accident. Your life carries weight, meaning, and possibility. Whether your path is bold or quiet, visible or unseen, you are chosen for something that matters.

The question isn’t if you are chosen. The real question is: Will you answer the call?
