How?

Mar 18, 2025

The quote from an unknown source that I put in this week’s newsletter inspired me to write more on “how”.

For starters, yes, I have a newsletter that can land in your inbox each week – with real life stories, experiences, advice, and challenges. It usually also includes a look into the world of random hearts that I have either found in everyday life or that have been sent to me by loved ones – which can all be found on the Instagram page @seeing_thelove.  A mindfulness exercise, or Mindful Minute, and an inspirational (topic related) bible verse can also be seen on the pages of this Midweek Mindful Check-in.  Simply head to livinghealthyin5fields.com, click on the pop-up, enter your first name and email, click “yes, please”… and wait for all of this to drop in your inbox early each Wednesday morning.

Secondly, the quote – “How is usually on the other side of obey….” Obedience can be achieved by practicing humility, integrity, self-discipline, and sacrifice. Deeper, these include:

  • Being humble
  • Adhering to morals and values
  • Having self-control
  • Giving up something valuable to achieve a greater goal

You may struggle to obey because of pride, fear of rejection, or lack of trust (in yourself, God, love, etc.). However, obedience to things that are “good” can be, well, good. Obedience can show that you believe. It can show love, trust, and commitment.

The “how” to which I am referring?  How to lead a life of:

  1. Respect and love
  2. Order and stability
  3. Effective leadership
  4. Personal growth
  5. Building positive relationships

Rules and instructions help maintain order within life and community, preventing chaos. Adhering to guidelines and established structures can develop self-discipline and flourish improved decision-making skills. Obedience isn’t weak, it could bring a greater strength. It could create closer, more genuine relationships. I am not referring to a submissive obedience, but one of alignment, respect and truth – surrendering hidden and selfish agendas.

Think about what kind of world it could be without such a division in political views, religious beliefs, and whether there should even be rules or the enforcement of them – a world without such hatred, violence, and selfishness. Rather, a world of unity, strength, and compromise – all from a sense of obedience.  A world with more servant hearts – helping one another. A world with more open minds to agreement – with less division.

There would still be independence and individuality, with a sense of working toward common goals. Goals of achieving more love and safety. More peace and good intentions. More encouragement and understanding. More security and support.

Next time you ask yourself “how” to do something – do it with an intention to not see others suffer. Do it with love – aiding all living things. Do it with belief – in the greater good, in order, in a sense of equality. Do it with faith – in each other and yourself. Do it yielding to the needs of others, without being driven by your own desires, without coercion or force. Do it with obedience…it may require effort and even sacrifice at times, but the reward lies “on the other side”.
