8 Tips to Help it Last

Self-confidence is understanding that you trust your own judgement and abilities. That you value yourself and feel worthy, regardless of imperfections or of what others may believe about you.  It has been found that the more self-confident you are, the happier you are with yourself and the more you are able to enjoy what life has to offer.

Here are 8 Tips for Lasting Self-Confidence:

  1. Get to know yourself – discover your true self; acknowledge your values, beliefs, strengths; be comfortable in who you really are and what you want.
  2. Accept yourself – you have amazing qualities.  You don’t have to be perfect to be loved and happy.
  3. Realize no one is better than you – you are amazing just because you are YOU.  There is no one like you.  The world needs who you were made to be!
  4. Be authentically 100% yourself – embrace your uniqueness.
  5. Take action – face and challenge your fears and take action anyway.  Be encouraged – you WILL be ok…no matter what.
  6. Understand your emotions – understand the positive intention of every kind of emotion (not just the “good ones”), recognize and embrace each one.
  7. Take care of yourself – have time for yourself (make the time, if needed); recharge your batteries; notice what your body and mind need and offer it to yourself.
  8. Have self-confidence heroes – look up to 2-3 of your “Super Confidence Heroes” (like a regular superhero, only their confidence is what you truly find intriguing about them) …imagine what they would do or feel in your situation. Even if they’re pseudo superheroes or created in your imagination – embrace what they would do the next time you need a little extra confidence boost.

Bonus tip:

Look at your accomplishments!  What have you achieved in your life? In your day?  Count your successes – big or small – instead of any perceived failures (are there even such a thing??  Learning moments, yes. Failures, mmmm, I don’t think so).  Look for accomplishments in every day.  Recognize them. Celebrate each of them.

Some examples…

  • I took amazing care of myself today.
  • I recognized my emotions and allowed them to be present – without allowing them to control my thoughts or actions.
  • I was brave enough to get out of bed this morning and take on my day.
  • I made smart decisions and choices today.
  • I reacted to a hard situation well today.
