5 Key Questions and Growth Mindset Statements
Scientists have proven that the brain acts like a muscle – the more it is used, the stronger (and smarter) the brain becomes. Growth mindset is the belief that a person’s abilities and intelligence can be developed through practice, hard work, dedication, and motivation. A growth mindset can be developed by continually asking the following on any given day:
- What did I learn from today’s experiences?
- What steps did I take to make me successful today?
- What are some different things I could have done?
- How did I keep going when things got tough?
- What can I learn from someone who went against me today?
Opposite of a fixed mindset (avoiding challenges, ignoring feedback, being threatened by other people’s success), someone with a growth mindset:
- Embraces challenges
- Gives their best effort
- Learns from feedback
- Becomes inspired by other people’s success
- Believes their intelligence can change if they work hard
By having a growth mindset, you believe you are in control of your own ability and can learn and improve. This is the key to a more successful and productive life. It starts within yourself, believing in yourself, and knowing you are worthy of growth.
